YML Chosen to Present at droidconSF, One of the Largest Android Developer Conferences Worldwide

Four YML team members across engineering and design will be presenting on June 9th at Droidcon San Francisco, one of the largest Android Developer Conferences in the world.

Enrique López-Mañas, YML's Android Chapter Lead, will present alongside Shrikant Ballal, YML's Android Staff Engineer, in the session, "From Chaos to Consistency: Managing Build and Release for 25+ Android Repos with Github Actions."

Additionally, Eddy Gann, Senior Product Designer at YML, will present with Sreekumar Anjali Bhavan Vijayan, Lead Android Engineer, on, "Evolution of Location Permission in Android: From Install Time to Runtime and Beyond."

To register and attend these talks, follow this link.

Enrique and Shrikant's presentation will demonstrate how to manage the build and release process for over 25 Android repositories by using a centralized Github Actions approach. They will discuss how to create reusable workflows that can be easily shared across all the repositories, reducing the need to maintain multiple pipelines. Attendees will discover how to perform various checks for each repository, such as unit tests, integration tests, and code quality checks — all of which help to catch issues early and ensure that they're always release-ready.

Sreekumar and Eddy will discuss the location permission break up of foreground and background, and its impact on the development of location-based apps. They'll specifically explore the UI/UX challenges of asking permission in a contextual way, including best practices for designing permission requests that provide clear and concise information about why the permission is needed and how it will be used.

Attendees of this session will gain a deeper understanding of the evolution of location permission in Android, as well as insights into the current state of location permission management. This session is suitable for developers of all levels and will provide valuable information for anyone working on location-based apps for Android.
