Modernizing technical architecture
Critical to the technical challenge was mapping all new designs with the existing data model and leading a full scale transition from ObjectiveC (iOS) and java (Android) to SWIFT (iOS) and Kotlin (Android).
“YML has been our ongoing partner to develop this amazing, customer-centric tool that is so essential to our business.”
Building education into a competitive advantage
We interviewed salon stylists, staff, customers and company stakeholders to pair quantitative research with analytics to inform design decisions. We prioritized three features above the rest to evolve the product.
Education on-the-go
Discover insightful articles on professional techniques and growth, sign-up for classes easily, or learn and shop at once.
Smarter search
Search all content, products and classes via text, voice or barcode to help customers find what they're looking for in a variety of ways.
Easy ways to buy
Browse recommendations and deals, buy products related to education topics or schedule products for pick-up or delivery.
“Your attention to detail and quality in the COVID-19 crisis enabled us to quickly react for our users.”
Pivoting fast to support 1M stylists during the pandemic
SalonCentric and YML pivoted the app to meet the changing needs of their users when Covid-19 struck. This included updated, real-time information on store hours and product availability, as well as providing vital learning, educational tools and counsel for their community of nearly 1M stylists.
Libraries and vendors integrated
To meet SalonCentric’s request that their mobile app display dynamic data, YML integrated a seamless solution called Parse. This technology allowed their team to upload the CSV containing dynamic data, facilitating real-time display of the content they wanted to showcase.
